In 1999 it was announced that Hawk Corporation (NYSE:HWK), a Cleveland based manufacturing firm would acquire Allegheny Powder Metallurgy, Inc. The smaller firm continued to operate in its existing location and with in-house management producing powdered metal structural parts including gears, bushings and bearings. Products are sold to producers of lawn and garden supplies, appliances, toys, hardware and machinery. Originally capitalized by private investment, the acquired became part of the HAWK Precision Components Group -- a leading supplier of highly engineered precision components used in numerous industrial applications, from small precise, complex components to large area components
