AlgometRx Inc. is a digital health device firm spun-out of Children's National Hospital and organized around provision of a mechanistic approach objectively to measure pain and analgesic drug effect inreal time. Currently (2021) resident in the JLab Philadlphia facility and having a Washington DC presence, the AlgometRx technology platform is described as leveraging new insight into ocular physiology representing a paradigm shift in drug detection and pain assessment/monitoring. The firm's device is a first-of-its-kind technology objectively measuring pain intensity, type and drug effects in real time by leveraging new insights into physiology of nerve activation and applying proprietary algorithms to various characteristics. Usefully understood as an experimental new eye-tracking device that represents an integration of pupillary responses to light (pupillometry) and neurospecific neurostimulation (NSM) with an add-on module to a Smartphone. With a built-in software, users can determine specific pain types (such as neuropathic or nociceptive) and detect and measure analgesic drug effects by evaluating parameters of the Pupillary Light Reflex (PLR) and Pupillary Reflex Dilation (PRD).2
