In 2008, Creative Electron Inc acquired Aguila Technologies Inc for an undisclosed amount. Aguila Technologies Inc, a spinoff company from Ormet Corporation, specializes in product development, prototyping and small-to-medium-volume production for the development of new chip packages utilizing advanced materials and processes. The firm provides prototype and low-volume micro-BGA, CSP and wafer-scale device fabrication and assembly for a wide range of products, including wireless automotive, electro-optical, biomedical, defense and aerospace applications. Aguila has created an epoxy paste for electronics packaging that can inexpensively allow silicon semiconductors to withstand harsh environments such as extreme hot or cold, moisture, and other contaminants. By interlinking bismaleimide resins with epoxies, the performance properties of the epoxy is elevated over conventional epoxies. This paste is a much more durable and effective encapsulant and absorbs less moisture than typical underfill encapsulants. These processes are both environmentally friendly and allows thicker layers for application in one step, reducing the amount of processing.
