Founded and headed up by a sister-brother entrepreneurial team Advanced Vascular Therapies (AVT) is the outgrowth of many years of caring for their diabetic Mother who, over many decades, had multiple strokes. In her later years, poor circulation led to non-healing wounds or ulcers on her legs/feet with amputation a considered option. This family team became highly skilled at wound care and prevention, developing a technology to aid in wound healing with the larger goal to prevent amputation. Engaging technology developed at Purdue University, AVT employed non-invasive therapeutic options to include design of the prototype of a novel pneumatic compression device (PCD) to heal non-healing ulcers. Far faster than other available systems, the AVT device, used weekly, prevented further wound formation, despite the extremely poor circulation.
