Formed to commercialize silicon nanotechnology co-developed by ASG employee in applications ranging from photovoltaics, Li-ion batteries, microfluidics, MEMS to .... ASGâs core technology is the texturing of silicon using metal enhanced etching to produce silicon nanowire arrays for which applications the firm owns the IP for practical solar cell device structures with this type of surface and for silicon nanowires used in Li-ion batteries, microfluidics, lab-on-chip, thermoelectrics, MEMS, and sensors. The developed technology provides controllability of the height, diameter, and density of the nanowires, uniformity over large surfaces, reproducibility, and production via large scale, low cost industrial processes (wet chemistry at atmospheric pressure). The firm's approach is to partner with others to put ASG's silicon nanowire technology into the products of that partners with the objective of improving product performance: ASG's technology is effectively licensed for a specific application and field of use. Principals of the firm are working in the arenas of photovoltaics, Li-ion batteries, anti-bacteria surfaces, non-wetting surfaces, microfluidics, and thermoelectrics providing functionality that is otherwise either not possible or that could effectively lower cost
