AML is focused to development and marketing of automated 3–dimensional coil winding technology. Early versions of this technology had been developed at the Superconducting Super Collider, a US National Laboratory (SSCL), under the leadership of Dr. Rainer Meinke - now President of Advanced Magnet Laboratory - who was the Machine Leader of the SSCL Main Accelerator. Highly automated coil winding requiring custom automation technology, Dr. Meinke created the Advanced Magnet Lab, Inc together with experts in automation technology from GSMA Systems, Inc. Over this period, AML has developed novel superconducting magnets for applications in High-energy Physics Accelerators, Fusion Research, Magnetic Levitation for Space Launch, and Electromagnetic Space Launch Technology. Based on its unique resources and capabilities, AML has worked on projects and technologies that normally do not exist in small businesses. AML successes include: - Levitation magnets for electromagnetic launch systems- Field shaping coils for open and closed MRI systems - Various specialty magnets for high energy physics accelerators - High power linear motor systems for electromagnetic space launch - Superconducting energy storage system for electromagnetic launch - Superconducting quadrupole arrays for future heavy ion fusion accelerators - Dual purpose superconducting hydrogen transfer line - Antenna coils for communication systems
