ACA Industries Inc was focused to development of the Joint winged aircraft. During the 70's, the first design was built from hang glider materials and construction techniques. It was launched by bungee with Dr. Wolkovitch at the controls. It was a short but controlled flight. By the mid 80's a propeller driven version made from composites was built and sucessfully test flown - at which point funding was forthcoming primatily from NASA. Due to his deteriorating health, in 1990 the President of the company, Dr Julian Wolkovitch attempted unsuccessfully to sell ACA Industries. He died in January 1991.
