In this program, 2WiTech LLC proposes to develop and commercialize a platform sensing technology for fast field trace detection of atrazine in water. The core part of this technology is a structurally ordered polymer sensing chip with specially designed binding sites, which can selectively respond to atrazine molecules in water. The signal of the sensor can be read optically using an optical reader and correlated to the concentration of atrazine in water. The proposed sensor will possess the following advanced attributes: high sensitivity, high specificity, fieldability, fast detection, ease of operation, and low operation cost. For technology commercialization, 2Witech will collaborate with a commercial partner, which is a leading producer of sensing devices/instruments for wastewater treatment. Engineering capability and sales channels of the partner can be used for product prototyping and sales of the proposed sensors.
