The relative effectiveness of various grafting techniques is being determined as a time-saving means for changing cultivars in New York vineyards. If successfully applied commercially, this process would reduce substantially the time required to change the variety of grape in a vineyard. A reduction in time from 6 years to 2 years is contemplated due to field grafting rather than removal and replanting of site.
