To access and exploit mission data to enhance operations and deliver information and decision superiority, USSOCOM requires a highly scalable data management system that is available and effective in all operational domains, contested and austere environments, and all at levels of Special Operations Forces (SOF) operations. Data lakes and other data management systems that rely on standardizing, normalizing, and centralizing data including data lakes, data warehouses, and data lakehouses are insufficient for SOCOMs operational data requirements. Instead, Raft will architect and implement a data fabric a decentralized system of automated and self-orchestrating applications that continuously connects disparate and heterogeneous data sources for integrated discoverability, accessibility, and governance of all mission data. Raft will create a roadmap for implementing a decentralized data fabric system architecture into relevant cloud environments, on premise bare metal servers, and edge devices. Additionally, Raft will develop, test, and deliver a TRL-7 minimum viable product (MVP) that enables SOF users to discover and access data across data sources, classification levels, and SOF use cases from the strategic to the tactical level even with limited resources and in constrained environments.
