USSOCOM has been developing and using Visual Augmentation Systems (VAS) of varying sizes and capabilities for many years. These systems are available to the operator but are typically limited in their mission applicability. They are often limited in capability and only good for the mission they were developed for. Envision's effort seeks to develop a “device agnostic” capability which utilizes the plethora of available VAS devices in a Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) role for times when GNSS is diminished or unavailable. The goal is to perform a feasibility study to determine the proper algorithm protocol and software architecture that will interface with the most VAS systems currently fielded to allow the software to be injected into the operating system of the VAS system and provide a more accurate position with reference to height above ellipsoid (HAE). Envision's plan would be to develop this algorithm using a revolutionary approach that would be able to upgrade all VAS fielded systems through their current hardware platforms. This algorithm would supplement the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) currently on board these VAS devices to eliminate the associated error and assist with assured navigation while being jammed or spoof

The SAL-UHP program is to develop and produce a compact, lightweight aiming and illumination system which helps to enable the operator to observe and identify targets at longer ranges than can be done with existing fielded laser devices. The proposed Envision SAL-UHP will allow the Warfighter to have a nighttime aiming and illumination capability which is significantly improved over legacy systems. A number of novel approaches will be used in order to achieve higher illuminator output power than any weapon-mounted system in this weight class.
