Tucson Embedded Systems will design and prototype a wiki based information management system consisting of a ruggedized hand-held personal digital assistance (PDA) connected to data servers via a transport network. The transport network will support 802.11, 802.16, and specified tactical radios. When the network isn’t available, the PDA will be functional via smart data caching and advanced online re-synchronization. The system will support the collection of intelligence data of target cultures from several sources, translate the data into a common digital format, and transfer the data. Collection of voice, imagery, text, and video will be directly supported to understand the needs, motivations, wants, desires, customs, language, art, and music of cultures of areas of operations. The system will operate both online and offline. Collectors will have the ability to view and edit stored data and transmit once connection to the data server is established. Government personnel associated with developing cultural intelligence products including peoples of interest, areas of interest, monuments, captured art and archives will use the collected information.
