Phase I

Contract Number: ----------
Start Date: ----    Completed: ----
Phase I year
2007
Phase I Amount
$99,894
Improved solid performance is needed to meet Integrated High Payoff Rocket Propulsion Technology (IHPRPT) Program goals. The principal objective of this program is to synthesize new hydroxy-terminated oligomers for use in polyurethane binders. These novel oligomers will contain gem-dinitro groups to provide performance advantages compared to currently used propellant components. The materials are expected to have good low-temperature and high-temperature properties, and to be compatible with nitroplasticizers.

Phase II

Contract Number: ----------
Start Date: ----    Completed: ----
Phase II year
2008
Phase II Amount
$749,995
Improved solid performance is needed to meet Integrated High Payoff Rocket Propulsion Technology (IHPRPT) Program goals. New hydroxy-terminated oligomers for use in polyurethane binders have been synthesized under Phase I that provide performance advantages compared to currently used propellant components and have good low-temperature and high-temperature properties. The objective of Phase II is to extend the technology to enable commercialization of the materials. The work will include improving the synthesis processes and demonstrating compatibility and performance in propellant formulations.
