The Army is using robots in ever increasing number to execute it mission across its spectrum of operations. Although these robots provide significant operational benefits, the Army currently lacks an adequate, automated Command and Control (C2) systems to communicate relevant information from them to leaders in a timely manner without overwhelming or distracting these leaders from their overall mission. FSCX, Inc.s proposed concept will result in a design for a near-real time system to overcome the C2 deficiencies. Our Common Operational Picture-Robotic (COP-R) design will: 1) enable leaders to utilize filtered, robot-provided information without causing leaders to neglect competing responsibilities; 2) automate data flow between robot operators, the small unit leader, and Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (C4I) networks to maintain a Common Operational Picture (COP); 3) provide the capability for one leader or robot operator to control multiple robots; 4) provide the ability to capture information pertinent for during and After Action Review (AAR) purposes. The resulting product will help soldiers and leaders improve the quality and timeliness of their decisions to positively affect their operations. COP-Rs design will allow it to either reside on or embed in an operators Robot Control Station and a leaders C4I platform.
