A "right-sized" electrode production process is proposed which is based upon a re-engineered current collecting substrate for electrodes. The electrodes have an inordinate number of open pores which increase the discharge rate capability and efficiency by a significant amount. The electrode polarization of Ag2O electrodes is <210 mV at current densities of 2,000 ma/cm2 at 7oC ambient temperature. A benchtop machine based upon a design for a full production process will be fabricated and used first to produce Ag2O electrodes, then Zn electrodes for use in silver-zinc batteries. The benchtop machine will also be used to produce electrodes for evaluation in lithium-ion, Li-MnO2, Li-SOCl2, and electrochemical capacitors.
