The goal of SiliconCores technical effort is to develop an emissive image surface (EIS) for flight simulator wide-angle collimated display applications that significantly increases the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) contrast performance with an objective to support night vision goggles (NVG) stimulation. SiliconCore Technology is uniquely positioned with its various proven technologies, to simultaneously improve performance in a variety of areas including resolution, frame rate, and near infrared integration. SiliconCore will collaborate with subcontractor, Vice Chief, LLC, an expert display engineer, on this project. SiliconCores main technical effort is to create a large-scale (5.5 radius) curved emissive image surface (EIS) based on direct view LEDs. Direct view LEDs have the potential to unlock new levels of visual performance in collimated displays. SiliconCore can create custom LED packages containing both near infrared (NIR) LED and RGB LEDs while also driving them on a separate image generator channel. The key display performance parameters can be improved by a carefully designed, large EIS. SiliconCore has thoroughly reviewed the specifications set forth by the Navy in the solicitation and responded to each point mentioned. SiliconCore recognizes that the main challenges include development of an emissive image surface, high-contrast and high-luminance display, with large vertical FOV, NVG stimulation, calibration, maintenance, and use with motion platforms. The challenges specific to SiliconCores direct view LED technologies include compound curved PCBs and RGB+NIR integration. SiliconCore addresses each point with a plan to overcome these challenges in the Phase I award period. The expected outcome of this Phase I award is a scaled-down prototype and an identified end-user and stakeholder for a Phase II award and Phase III commercialization.

Benefit:
SiliconCore Technology is currently an innovative leader in the realm of direct view LED displays and is the only company in the world that designs and contract-manufactures its own LED drivers for system displays. Its sole focus is fine pixel pitch direct view LED displays. These facts put SiliconCore in a unique position to disrupt current rear projection collimated displays with an emissive image surface. SiliconCore produces B2B applications with efforts concentrating in higher density display development, leading the industry in announcing ground-breaking products and innovations for the market. The market size for flight simulators is expected to increase significantly over the next decade. According to Emergen Research market report, the flight simulator market size reached USD 6.90 Billion in 2021 and is expected to register a CAGR of 6.7% through 2030 for overall growth to 12.9 billion. The industry is currently in a stage of product development where the transition from projection to direct view LED for collimated displays is now possible; there are very few providers that can be at the forefront of this development. We expect to emerge as the lead US company to provide direct view LED solutions for the simulation industry and expand our commercial portfolio in this market. Current projection suppliers for these markets are seeking direct view LED solutions to transition to newer technology. We are an ODM supplier and can meet this demand as well. The industry is also moving towards tighter pixel pitches and curves. The engineering required to develop a product for the US Navy with a high resolution and higher curvature, will help advance efforts in the marketplace to address these needs for different markets. For example higher resolution curved applications are being requested in collaborative and virtual spaces. Other simulated environments in commercial applications for manufacturing, training and design are also on the rise. This technology development for the US Navy will catalyze these developments.
