Systems Visions LLC (dba SYVI) has identified possible solutions to create coaxial cables capable of operating at extreme temperatures. The High Efficiency Refractory Metal Enhanced Survivability (HERMES) cables will be comprised of refractory metals and ribbon ceramic materials. The HERMES cable solution should function in excess of 1500 degrees Celsius. We will also develop an appropriate measurement approach to characterize the HERMES cables at extreme temperatures.

Benefit:
The developed cable/connector technology will be useful across the DoD enterprise for high-temperature RF applications especially hypersonic weapons. There is a significant need for RF cables to operate across a wide range of temperatures from milli-Kelvin to thousands of Kelvin. A reliable cost-effective temperature-resilient cable technology which is tunable with respect to impedance, frequency, attenuation, power, phase stability and physical dimensions would find application across aerospace and defense.
