Applied Physical Electronics, L.C. (or APELC) proposes the development of the full Marx generator system described in the solicitation. It is believed that the thermal solutions, sought by the solicitation, require a systems-approach, which requires the full generator development. The proposed approach follows work previously done by APELC for AFRL, but addresses the high repetition rate and the subsequent thermal issues. The Phase1 is proposed for several experiments to demonstrate the proposed sources of heat, as well as to demonstrate design solutions.

Benefit:
A low impedance Marx generator will serve the high power microwave and high power RF community, with additional applications in flash x-ray. An additional application for a short-pulse, low impedance generator is with trigger multiple systems in larger experiments. In this case, the low impedance generator may drive multiple loads, using parallel coaxial cables, and with no jitter. This is very important with large experiments within the DOE. APELC has an excellent history in commercializing pulsed power products; and this system will compliment our family of Marx generators.
