For Navy Combat Logistics Force (CLF) ships requiring a fast-acting highline cable cutter for emergency use during Connected Underway Replenishment (CONREP) operations, the Man-portable Pneumatic Actuated Cable Cutter (MPACC) is an innovative cutting device for large diameter, high-strength steel cable and wire rope, that unlike current systems does NOT use explosive cartridges AND can reliably sever the cable in under one second saving the ships precious time to avoid damage to equipment and/or personnel injury. MPACC utilizes self-contained, commercially available, pressurized air cartridges to quickly cut cables, and the system is easily rechargeable for future use exceeding 50 cable cuts without replacing the system. The proposed MPACC was designed with safety has its primary concern while meeting all stated requirements such as size, weight, cost, and environmental conditions.

Benefit:
In addition to Navy Combat Logistics Force ships, it is anticipated the MPACC will benefit commercial industries such as off-shore oil and gas, crane operations, and towing.
