The amount of data being generated in a wide range of industries continues to grow exponentially, and yet the tools to analyze that data have not kept pace. Decision-makers need a way to derive actionable insights from these large data sets without having to commit additional human resources. infoSentience has developed a system of tools that use artificial intelligence (AI) and a Natural Language Generator (NLG) to analyze any large complicated data set, determine what events within the data are most relevant to a given end user, and then provide a natural language report on its findings. The solution is capable of generating reports ranging from a paragraph to many pages in length. These reports can include information on trends, outlier events, critical changes, and other pertinent information, all with appropriate context to help the decision-maker understand why the changes took place. infoSentience proposes to improve this system by adding two key components: (1) a web-based control panel that will give users the capability to create custom reports on demand, and (2) dynamic graphic components that will visually display key information, augmenting the written narrative.

Benefit:
DEFENSE

Benefits:
This need for sophisticated data analysis is acute within the Defense Sector. Within the current open topic, the Navy is seeking solutions that use artificial intelligence (AI) to streamline business operations, specifically by helping to connect data and processes. infoSentience has created artificial intelligence that is built to accomplish that exact task. It has created a system that can look at any data set, determine what is most important within that data set, and then create a natural language report communicating that information. infoSentience proposes, as part of the Phase I, to add the ability to create reports on demand that include data visualizations. Once built out, this system will have wide applicability with Defense. A short list of possibilities includes creating report dashboards for: supply/logistics systems, simulator data, radar data, intelligence/counter-intelligence data, maintenance data for critical mechanical components, and business operations (financial reports, personnel reports, etc.). We plan on attending an appropriate Navy or Defense related conference to identify potential end users that we can showcase our completed Phase I technology to. NON-DEFENSE

Benefits:
infoSentiences technology is currently available on the commercial market and the company is cash flow positive. infoSentience offers a suite of products using its proprietary, industry-leading NLG software in fields such as journalism, finance, and medicine. These reports are written at human-level quality, leaving readers unaware that they are reading reports written by a computer. This quality level is possible because infoSentience has focused on building a sophisticated software solution (instead of any particular product) that allows for the rapid creation of high-quality automated reports on any new topic. The infoSentience team can quickly teach the system key insights to look for and how to weigh their importance. The system then uses the companys proprietary algorithms to turn those insights into an easy-to-read narrative. Adding data visualizations and the ability to create reports to this system as part of the Phase I effort will only increase its market value.
