During the two-year program, Maher & Associates LLC (M&A) will evaluate new composite technologies that may be used to produce affordable replacements for aluminum components on the V22 Osprey aircraft. Work will include assessments of the new technologies, design of a component using the new composite technology, fabrication of the component, and testing of a demonstration part. The thermoforming technologies to be assessed shall include: resin infusion, wet press, and open weave. Different material formats shall be assessed as well, including: short fiber composites and thermoplastics.
