The objective of this project is to develop optimized process parameters for the cold spray process to test the fatigue life of a 5/16 inch through hole coupon and a divot coupon. A combination of finite element analysis (FEA) modeling and lab testing will be conducted to determine the loads necessary to achieve 10,000 cycles to failure for load ratios of R= -1 and R= 0.1, for both test coupon configurations. Where load ratio R is defined as the ratio of the minimum and maximum loads during the fatigue loading.

Benefit:
Current efforts to repair 7075 Al using 7050 powder have shown reduced fatigue life versus leaving the sample unrepaired. This effort will develop a repair method that has equal or better fatigue life than the damaged part. The data and models generated will also aid in the development of structural repairs in the future.
