The strict transactional nature of Tactical Data Links (TDL) and the tight coupling between link processing and combat system processing has led to isolated and often proprietary internal interfaces that impede the ability of the DoD to leverage modern communications technologies. Through Phase II of this SBIR the Fuse Team will develop a Decoupled TDL solution that networks shipboard TDL systems through established, modern, secure Internet Protocol networks. Fuse will establish and demonstrate a distributed architecture that simplifies the dissemination of data from many deployed units, back to a web based server. By decoupling TDL data from the rigid deployed links the Decoupled TDL solution will expand the ability of Government users to develop new solutions and added functionality using off the shelf software development techniques.
Benefit: The TDL server solution will enable any authenticated and approved user to view and configure deployed systems through a streamlined, user friendly HTML UI. This improved user experience for providing distance support to deployed users will increase efficiency for configuring and troubleshooting TDLs, eliminate confusion, and reduce setup time. Phase II of this SBIR will demonstrate an innovative approach to making deployed TDL systems much more simple to use.
