The objective of the Phase I program is to demonstrate the feasibility of developing a cell in annular design which meets the Navy's mission needs. This cell is to utilize Li/CFx chemistry to take advantage of the high energy density and improved safety of this chemistry. In the Phase I program, ECO will develop an improved cathode material and then demonstrate the performance of this cathode material in both cylindrical and annular cell designs.
