The proposed system has the capability of non-destructively inspecting tires Nfrom bead-to-bead in less than 8 minutes. This high throughput capability is Wavailable for tires prior to retreading. The capability of an existing system will be Qexpanded to include the ability to find sidewall defects in nylon corded tires. NSuch a system has the capability to increase safety while reducing costs for Pmilitary applications. Significant commercial potential also exists outside of Jmilitary applications. These commercial applications are currently being Oexplored by the proposing company. Private sector partners have the potential Jto help create the market for the technology which is under development. RThe ability to display and acquire data in an intuitive manner is critical to the Hacceptance of the technology. The proposed effort will extend previous Fdevelopment of advanced graphical displays for inspection data. This Nadvancement will reduce the barriers to acceptance of the technology for both %military and civilian applications.
