Anholt Technologies proposes to develop a low cost replacement aircraft Idoor. Preliminary analysis indicates Anholt Technologies' design, using Cpultruded stiffeners, flat panels and advanced adhesion techniques Jpossesses the required structural strength at a significantly reduced end Iitem cost. Anholt Technologies proposes to design, fabricate and test a Frepresentative stiffened structure in this Phase I program as well as Bdemonstrate a non-destructive evaluation technique. The approach Jutilizes concurrent engineering and established technologies to develop a Jhigh quality, low cost, stiffened panel by combining Anholt Technologies' Odesign, analysis, fabrication and testing capabilities, with the University of ADelaware, Center for Composite Materials adhesion technology and ?McDonnell Douglas' non-destructive testing developments. This Gproposal will describe the process to develop a low cost aircraft door Ebased on low cost pultruded shapes and advanced adhesion techniques. G Moreover, this type of construction can be inherently damage tolerant Cbased on the material selection further reducing maintenance costs.9 The Phase I program will begin by identifying candidate Jstructures for replacement and developing a baseline design of a selected Hstructure. A representative stiffened structure will be fabricated and Htested to determine the structural performance of the adhesively bonded Istiffened panel. To ensure that the development effort remains relevant Eto the Navy's needs, Anholt Technologies has assembled a strong team Dfor the Phase I program. McDonnell Douglas will play a key role in Gmaintaining focus to the program and provide both cost modeling and an ,outlet for implementation of the technology.
