Scientific Technology, Inc. (ScTI) proposes to perform a feasibility study of a compact, wide bandwidth, electronically scanned (E-scan) high gain beam, stacked microstrip phased array SHF antenna. An aperture-coupled, corner-fed stacked square-patch antenna is proposed as the radiating element for high polarization isolation and wide bandwidth application. Each element is fed through an aperture by a feeding network underneath with digitally controlled phase shifter, by properly controlling the phase and amplitude fed to each radiating element, a beam is formed and steered to the desired direction without mechanically moving the array and without rotating of the polarization. This stacked phase array is compact in size, and light in weight making it easily transportable and deployable.
