The objective of this effort is to develop low-cost wavelet-based compression algorithms, for transmitting real-time video data over noisy narrow bandwidth radiolinks. These algorithms will incorporate a variety of supplemental image processing capabilities, such as adaptive focusing, smooth magnification, contrast enhancement, and noise removal. The algorithms will be demonstrated in software and a system level hardware architecture will be designed.
