The Programmable Electronic Modules (PEMS) is a Phase II effort based on a successful Phase I contract entitled Generic Standard Electronic Modules (GSEM). PEMS is focused on extending and implementing an engineering methodology developed under the GSEM effort. This methodology permits the smooth transition of aging electronic hardware to modern technology. It is accomplished in such a way that the utility of the targeted hardware is completely maintained and the changes to the end produce (form, fit, and function) is transparent to the user.
