Analyticon proposes developing an enhanced software technique for pattern recognition that will be a fully integrated procedure, unlike prior techniques. The objective is providing a tool for testing key assumptions, internal compatibility, and performance of radiometric typing algorithms - per issues of ramifications on signature uncertainty statistics of signature mapping to a best decision-making hyperspace of coordinates statistical compatibility of decision rule and coordinates of impact of mis-modeling (per hyperspace determination, payoff criterion choice / pre-conditioning, quantification of statistical uncertainty moments, measurement noise effect). This effort will automate a complete albeit simple solution for readily identifying, using radiometric measurements of an observed vehicle's or event's signature, the corresponding type of similar radiant intensity characteristics to other candidates. This software is applicable to military topics of vehicle/weapon classification, treaty compliance verification, and diverse societal applications. The preliminary design and feasibility of the proposed software will be established during Phase I. Accordingly it will be coded, implemented and tested on PCs. The resultant design will be refined and its performance evaluated in-depth during an envisioned Phase II effort.
