Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) is actively involved in the safe transportation of energy and hazardous material that are vital to daily lives. This also includes underground natural gas storage (UNGS) maintenance and safe operation which are critical to nation's energy infrastructure. Enhancing leak detection and identifying smart ways to prevent potential well blowout are required to protect public safety and environment. Oceanit is proposing a two-tiered system for advanced leak detection through a unique modelling based approach and provide a smart material solution that will enable rapid well control under potential leak and blow out situations. Ultimately this project will result in an advanced system for UNGS monitoring and leak prevention.
