This project will develop an augmented reality application to generate personalized formative assessment feedback as students interact with physical objects related to STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) concepts, such as recognizing the shape of an atom. The prototype will be designed as a multi-sensory tool to support students with visual challenges. At the end of Phase I, in a research study with 50 students and 2 middle school classrooms, researchers will examine whether the prototype functions as planned, whether the feedback can be used to gauge student progress in their learning experience, and whether students learn content aligned to the task. One of the classrooms will include sighted students, and one will include students who are blind or visual impaired
