In response to the Department of Energy FY 2023 Phase I Release 2 Small Business Innovation Research solicitation topic C56-10, “Decarbonization of Agriculture, Buildings, Transport, Industry, and their communities”, Energy Wall, LLC will continue to develop a modular Molecular Air Conditioner (MAC) heat pump and CO2 scrubbing. The MAC heat pump enables existing or new buildings to reach net-zero carbon emission standards utilizing off- peak compressor power to actively capture and sequester carbon dioxide from the building and/or the atmosphere with no additional first cost. A single, modular MAC system will simultaneously 1) cool, 2) dehumidify, 3) heat, 4) humidify, 5) deactivate viruses, 6) deactivate bacteria, 7) scrub CO2, 8) scrub other gaseous pollutants, 9) recover ventilation exhaust energy, and 10) filter particulates from a challenging airstream. Captured CO2 is contained within an enclosure and is fully sequestered by subsequent liquification via standard gaseous compression technologies. The MAC allows for the true conditioning of air within both commercial and residential buildings. This transformational concept in the conditioning of buildings through all seasons is being successfully reduced to practice through a working demonstration prototype.
