TAF proposes to Reverse Engineer the 400 Hz voltage regulator circuit card, NSN 6110-00-405-6216, using salvaged parts and technical data. TAF has already acquired a salvaged part for analysis as well as several manuals to reduce technical risk during Phase I. TAF will create a Technical Data Package (TDP), manufacture and test prototypes, develop a Source Approval Request package, and ultimately deliver 5-10 working sample parts for Source Approval. The NSN is a critical Circuit Card Assembly — more commonly referred to as a Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) — in the PU-545/A system (NSN 6125-00-958-6915) that produces stable 400Hz power for several aircraft’s support equipment. TAF has a successful history of Reverse Engineering and Manufacturing similar types of components. TAF’s methodology will be based on past successes reverse engineering Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs) for DLA. TAF will identify modern replacements for the obsolete board components while maintaining backwards compatibility with the existing motor-generator system. TAF will develop and submit both a TDP and SAR. Once a SAR is approved, TAF will participate as an Approved Source for the specific NSN in future procurements. TAF will manufacture these PCBAs in the United States at its existing facilities in Richmond, Virginia.
