There is a compelling need for scaling fiber lasers and amplifiers to higher power and energy for industrial and military applications. The primary scaling roadblock today is the very limited brightness of diode laser pumps. We propose to produce the highest brightness diode laser pump sources for fiber amplifiers demonstrated to date. TeraDiode will build high efficiency pump lasers at 976-nm for application in pumping high power fiber lasers and amplifiers. These highly efficient pumps will be 10x to 100x brighter than those diode laser pumps that are currently available today.
