In response to the stated goals of SBIR topic ARPA 94-083, we propose the development of a simulation query language for discrete event systems (e.g., C3I systems, manufacturing, computer systems, networks, financial planning). The language will be based on a rigorous modeling framework and will include the capability to run simulations in "normal", "fast", or "parallel" mode. A unique feature will be the incorporation of a novel parallel simulation paradigm that exploits efficient sharing of data and instructions across simulation runs, rather than attempting to parallellize the execution of a single run. The project goals include (1) a functional description of the complete software environment with emphasis on highly interactive features and visualization, and (2) a demonstration of the above novel paradigm whereby execution and management of multiple simulations is expected to provide orders of magnitude speedup. Benefits: Simpli FY the development and operation of discrete event simulation software and significantly reduce its cost. Provide a user-friendly, highly interactive, flexible, and distributed environment. Develop new, scalable, HPCC-compatible parallel simulation software with orders of magnitude speedup benefits to decision making and planning applications.
