The proposed Phase II effort focuses on (a) the development of a combat model based on CASTFOREM to evaluate signature reduction countermeasure methods for ground vehicles against infrared and radars, and (b) the use of the model to perform efficacy assessments for specific countermeasures being developed by DoD. CASTFOREM is a TRAC maintained, force-on-force, stochastic simulation model with sufficient resolution that was successfully demonstrated in Phase I to be suitable to model countermeasures and their effects on battle outcome. Anticipated Benefits/Potential Commercial Applications - The potential benefits of this research is the availability of a sophisticated tool for evaluation of signature reduction countermeasure methods in a combat environment. Also, the model can be used to define material specifications and system performance, and to perform optimization and sensitivity analysis.
