The ALE Team will develop an electrochemical energy solution with 5 V operation to support high energy/power demand of military applications. A cell system of electrolyte and electrodes will be selected to produce > 400 Wh/kg pouch cell with an extensive cycle life and exceptional rate capability across a wide temperature range. ALEs success in achieving the objectives for Phase I, coupled with lessons learned from design and development findings, will provide foundation for refining and optimization work of the cell-level materials, and development and delivery of prototype multi-layer pouch and 18650 cells to meet target performance requirements in Phase II
