One-Cycle Control, Inc. (OCC) will create a power-dense SiC OCC-Power Conditioning Surge Module (OCC-PCSM) to enable military generators to support non-linear loads and power surges up to 125% of rated power for 3 to 5 seconds.OCC-PCSM combines proven OCC Active Power Filter (OCC-APF) and OCC Peak Load Regulator (OCC-PLR) functions to deliver Power Factor Correction, Harmonic Cancellation, and Peak Load Shaving. OCC-APF functionality also load balances the 3 phases. With OCC-PCSM, a TQG will only need to supply balanced average power with a clean sinusoidal load current with power factor ~0.99. This will enable users to right-size TQGs according to average load rather than peak load to achieve improved efficiency, greater capacity, and higher reliability.During Phase I, OCC will: (1) identify battlefield loads and characterize Power Quality and Surge Requirements for those not already characterized, (2) identify scalable power converter configuration, energy storage, and control approach, and (3) build a functional-demonstration prototype OCC-PCSM based on COTS OCC converters. During Phase I option, OCC will refine the OCC-PCSM conceptual design in preparation for prototype build/delivery in Phase II for utilization with a 60kW TQG.One-Cycle Control,Silicon Carbide,Active Power Filter,Peak Load Regulator,Balanced Loads,TQG Right-sizing,Peak Load Reduction,Unbalanced Load Mitigation
