Fast Fit Technologies, LLC. proposes to research and show that a software based "all Digital-IF (Intermediate Frequency) wireless communications modem" using Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) server technology with built-in hardware acceleration card can be produced. The resulting research will show that given the state of technology, both currently available today and in the next calendar year, a multi-hundred mega-symbol (Msps) "all Digital IF" modem can be produced without the need for any custom hardware. The resulting modem will build on the work done for the ANSI/TIA-5041, FAST Digital IF Architecture and Open Standard Digital IF Interfaces standard, where input and output data will be a digitized modulated waveform encapsulated in VITA-49 frames over a digital fabric, such as 10G Ethernet. Fast Fit Technologies, LLC. proposes to use the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) standard 302 307 Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB); Second generation framing structure, channel coding and modulation systems for Broadcasting, Interactive Services, News Gathering and other broadband satellite applications (DVB-S2) as the waveform of choice, since this waveform is a standard and many COTS devices could be tested with the resulting work to prove the viability of the research; however, the resulting work may support any waveform standard to include
