The project describes an optimal design for directly integrating a fuel reformer with the state of the art in solid acid fuel cells (SAFCs) and other required balance-of-plant components required to produce a 250 Wnet person-portable, rugged, and efficient power supply utilizing low sulfur diesel fuel with a path leading to JP-8 fuel. The design capitilizes on SAFC operating temperature and high CO and H2S tolerance to simplify fuel processing and reforming and improve thermal integration.
