A semiconductor laser proposed for optical control of millimeter waves. The laser emits 2 frequencies which are locked in phase, whose polarizations are orthogonal. The beat between these frequencies can be used to generate mm waves. The difference between these 2 frequencies is determined by cavity geometry. No stabilization or feedback is required. The laser is integrable with other components based on compound semi-conductors. Feasibility of this laser, together with an alternative proposal from Bellcore, will be studied in this contract.
