The objective of the proposal is to evaluate Amorphous Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) Coatings on Optical Glass Fibers. The principal technology implementing the coating is Diamonex's patented Ion Beam Process. Areas of Investigation include: 1. Adhesion (Diamond-like carbon to optical glass fibers) 2. Hermiticity of DLC coated fibers 3. Tensile Strength of DLC coated fibers 4. Thermal Stability 5. Accelerated Aging 6. Transmission 7. Bending Strength 8. Abrasion Resistance
