Technology Applications, Inc. (TAI) proposes to develop an artificially intelligent load management and power distribution system prototype, refered to as the loadman demonstration prototype. Phase I of the proposed effort involves the development of a demonstration prototype and Phase II is targeted for the development of a full-scale prototype of the system for ultimate use in conjunction with tactical military system in the field. The system will handle dynamic reconfiguration of resource requirements and availability. Continuous monitoring of power availability and load demands will be used to schedule the loads during normal situations, while also performing peak reduction and recognizing degraded or potentially degrading circumstances. While contending with the specific constraints and parameters of the tactical military distribution system, the analysis and investigation will reveal solutions to a broader class of scheduling problems. TAI will also build upon previous research performed by TAI in the area of dynamic load scheduling development during construction of the space station experiment scheduler (SSES) expert system prototype for NASA.
