Phase I

Contract Number: N/A
Start Date: 00/00/00    Completed: 00/00/00
Phase I year
1984
Phase I Amount
$48,361
It is proposed to investigate the use of a novel infrared source to be used in the design and development of a novel multisensor chemical detector and measurement system. The source is all solid state, electronically choppable and operates without any cooling. It is proposed to determine the amount of modulated output which can be achieved from the device, the optimal size or configuration for a gas sensor and to fabricate a breadboard gas sensor and measure the gas detection capability under laboratory conditions.

Phase II

Contract Number: N/A
Start Date: 00/00/00    Completed: 00/00/00
Phase II year
1986
Phase II Amount
$313,210
It is proposed to develop an all solid state multichemical sensor system. The system will be portable, capable of detecting a multiple number of gases and it will be microprocessor controlled. The proposed system will utilize infrared spectroscopy and an innovative solid state ir source developed by high technology sensors. This source will be further characterized and developed for incorporation within a prototype gas sensing system suitable for operation within a helicopter environment.
