Magnaweave process (USP 4,312,261) can produce fibrous preforms for reinforced composites in shapes that have exceptional mechanical properties, while eliminating any delamination failure mechanism. the process is exceptinally suitable for the manufacture of light weight, high performance structural members for corps of engineers requirements light weight, mobility, high performance. Phase I will generate the mechanical properties of a series of magnaweave composites, to provide a data base for phase II design and development effort for maximum efficiency light weight structural composite beams.
