Our proposed technology is a magnet-free RF nonreciprocal isolator, circulator and related components that will wholly operate in full-duplex topological insulator circuits used for next-generation communication systems such as those used for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) systems, communications systems, and electronic warfare (EW) suites. These units simultaneously transmit and receive (tx/rx), unlike half-duplex units. All components required for the operation of the device including the modulation sources are integrated on the same circuit. Proof-of-concept circuits have been demonstrated. The resulting unit is less expensive, lighter, compatible with integrated technology, not reliant on rare-earth materials, and has greater function, most notably the ability of simultaneous tx/rx.
