GALT Aerospace will demonstrate a highly agile and readily adaptable Weapon Data Link (WDL) with greatly reduced Size, Weight and Power (SWaP) and cost compared with current WDL systems by employing the Air Force Research Laboratory Information Directorate (AFRL/RI) Software Radio (SWR) technology. Unlike Software-Defined Radio (SDR) technology, SDR special purpose signal processing hardware and support firmware coding with open General Purpose Processors (GPP) and DevSecOps software. This means much improved weapon integration, unparalleled threat responsiveness, and elimination of all too frequent vendor lock. GALT is a non?traditional, Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) focused on resilient communications innovation and effective integration. The GALT Team features the technology leaders within AFRL/RI, their research partners Jacobs, ANDRO, and PAR, and IS4S and Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) Advanced Weapons that couples small business agility and innovation with large business depth and weapon expertise. The proven Air Force developed technology provides a truly Open Low-SWaP Software Radio that is ideally suited to the demanding environment and requirements of a wide variety of strike and counter-air weapons. GALT will demonstrate an enhanced, modern, open architecture WDL will directly permit Blue Forces to command various collaborative weapons to employed coordinated tactics. The flexible nature of our approach works directly alongside, and with, existing legacy weapons data links buy providing multiple weapons data link information flows to and from disparate weapons, sensors and shooters. Through the use of miniaturized, low SWaP, open radios, collaborative weapons scripts and datalinks will be seamlessly integrated. By utilizing WOCA systems, GALT will ensure we are using a common software centric approach to netcentric collaborative weapon employment. GALT will build a lab prototype of the software and hardware WDL solution optimized for munitions integration. This solution will enable the necessary flexibility to be successful at the contested edge of the battlespace. This solution will enable Blue Forces to utilize weapons as a communication network transporting key targeting data between weapons; weapons and sensors/shooters as well as BLOS back and forth to command and control nodes in the rear. The GALT Team is poised to mitigate each of the challenges in bringing the AFRL/RI Software Radio into the weapons arena.
