The Air Forces ability to fight and win in the cyber domain depends on its ability to develop, enhance, and transition next generation cyber capabilities to the warfighter. The AFRL-RI Information Assurance Branch, tasked with the transition of advanced, next-gen cyber technologies to the Air Force and DoD warfighter, conducts evaluations and experiments in large scale cyber environments. As powerful and realistic as these cyber environments are they require, but currently lack, a large scale Internet simulator capable of simulating the millions of hosts as found on the Internet. To meet this unmet requirement, Grier Forensics proposes adapting its SilentWeb solution into a Cyber Environment, which will embed into the existing Information Assurance Branch cyber environments and endow them with million-host scale capabilities. SilentWeb already replications billions of resources from millions of hosts across the Internet, providing the scale needed by Information Assurance Branch. But, to meet Information Assurance Branch requirements, modifications are needed that will enhance SilentWeb from a data provider into a fully embedded, full stack, experimental platform for cyber. The result will enable Information Assurance Branch to develop, enhance, exercise, evaluate, and transition advanced capabilities for cyber operations.
