Opus 12 is building electrochemical devices that transform carbon dioxide (CO2) into useful chemicals, materials, and fuels. Opus 12 can produce syngas from CO2, a key intermediate to a range of valuable products. Opus 12 is exploring pathways with the Air Force and Army for in-situ production of critical materials typically purchased from suppliers today. This would reduce the need for supply chain complexity and stockpiling, and ensure an on-demand supply of critical materials, on-time and on-quality to be mission ready. In the proposed project, Opus 12 will develop a technology pathway from CO2 to a critical material needed by the Air Force and Army, enabling in-situ on-demand production. Opus 12 will demonstrate the full pathway to deliver 1 kg of this CO2-derived critical material. This development will form the foundation for future integration to a scaled-up system to meet end user needs.
